There has been a minor scandal concerning a serial plagiarist's spy novel, Assassin of Secrets. The 'author' lifted chunks of other, well-known spy novels wholesale and composed them into a new book. This might be sort of fun if it was promoted as a remix or a parody -- after all, if you can blend a dozen books together so that the joints don't show, that says a lot about the genre -- but this was promoted as an original work.
The oddest thing to me is that the author went to so much trouble to chop up masses of source material and stitch it all back together. It seems like more work than writing a fresh book.
But this guy is a serial plagiarist. Follow the link and you'll find a variety of instances, including editorial writing for the Huffington Post, by this 'writer.' He clearly has some kind of mental problem that doesn't allow him to understand copying and writing are not the same. But manslaughter and homicide are not the same, either. Both of them make you a killer.
Hear this: plagiarism is murder. Don't do it.
